Sure, you could just plug a stick into the TV to play in docked mode, but it's the seamless interactivity of placing your actual Switch into the dock that feels intrinsically fun. That being said I play handheld mode only when I am going somewhere for a while or someone is using the tv. Xenoblade as some people here mentioned is basically unplayable in handheld mode or tabletop mode to me. I use docked for all sorts of reasons mainly because games just look better that way. I don't play handheld except for one game which I played handheld all the way and that was the world ends with you because I heard it was better to play it that way.
